Week 2... Jan 9th thru the 16th..

Highlights from Week 2....
This week I had to take Maddie to the "girl" Dr.... she has been having a few issues, I know this is not something that should be memorable or a highlight, but it was one of the funniest experiences.... so I must share a little.... If you dare read on.....
Lets just say she was a little nervous, so she was in a wacky mood to say the least! We are sitting in the waiting area waiting for her turn, and she is looking all around checking the scene out like a 5 year old really. She then turns to me and says "this is just like the dentist office only for crotches!" Mind you she is not talking quietly, I start to laugh and she keeps going.. "they should be called crotchist don't you think".... Why yes that would be a great name I believe...
So then we go back into the room, let me actually back the story up 16 years to when I was pregnant with Maddie and Tom would come to my appointments with me, he would make wise cracks, sick jokes, play with the equipment, and we would laugh and laugh thinking we were just in a room by ourselves. Well the following year when I was pregnant with Hayden, Tom would stay home with Maddie so I would go alone, it was at that time that I realized the walls did not go up all the way to the ceiling they had a little opening and you could hear everything that was being said... I am sure some people sat there listening to Tom... Maddie must have soaked it all in.
so now here we are with Maddie acting the same almost worse! She see's a little model and says "it is the dentist only instead of a teeth mold they have vag's" and she is making little hand gestures with her hands like the teeth mold and then I don't know what kind of action she was doing for "Vag's" So then she see's the stirrups and says "what are these do you put your feet up in those"? Why yes you do, she freaks out, then she asks about the lamp and I move it towards her, she starts to freak out yelling "you have crotch hands" I tell her the Dr. wears gloves... duh, she then does this mime action of a Dr checking someone out then not being able to see well enough grabbing the light with no pause to take off gloves or what have you. I get a little sick thinking maybe she is right, and start rubbing my hands on my pants a little grossed out!.. When the Dr. came in he was quite smiley and I wonder how long they were listening to us. I hope they got as big of laugh out of her as I did. She thinks you must be some kind of perv to have that job by the way... It really was a funny day.
Other then that she had a Drill team competition that I spent my Saturday at It's a lot harder to sit through those things when you don't have any teams to get ready or running around to do.... I appreciate all my students parents all the more now.
Hayden had scouts 3 Saturday's in a row and is really headed towards his Eagle.
We also celebrated Zarley and Annie's birthday this week. I will need to get better at taking pictures.

Oh What a difference Ade makes!

Week one of 2011 Highlights.....
I know I totally look creepy in this picture, but hey it's ADE!!! I love him he is my favorite SYTYCD Star, I was totally star struck meeting him as well! We went to a dance convention this Weekend, it was amazing and Ade did not disappoint! His dance was the best too...

Another highlight of this week....
............... I ventured down stairs which I do not do often.... and this is why (however I think this tops the worst of all of Maddie's bad room days!) This is how I found Maddie's bedroom!
We found Christmas, clean clothes that should have been put away. Sleep over left overs...
a completely unmade bed....
The best part is that she herself could not stand her room so she has spread like a disease out into the family room area.... Notice her bedding on the couch,
Dishes, The bag of cereal I had wondered how the kids had eaten in one day.. her homework and her dance clothes!
Usually I would get extremely out of control mad at this situation, but I stood there and stared for a good 5 minutes soaking it all in walked over rode the bike (which is why I had gone down there in the first place) with tears running down my face... why.... because I have such a pig for a child,No, or because this was going to take the whole day to clean up No I cried because in just under 3 years I will no longer have this child in my home to make these messes to clean up after or to yell at to clean up, and it was 5 minutes ago I promise that she looked like this....(below) asking me to just give her a spanking because she would rather have that then have to clean her room!

Maddie 5 minutes ago..

All I ever wanted to be was a mom and it is just going by way too fast!
So In 2011 I am going to try and slow down and savor every little moment because these are the best years of my life with my children!

New Years Goals

I want to write down my resolutions so I am slightly more accountable to complete them.... I want to keep my list short because baby steps right!
#1 Be organized and stick to a schedule... This is the hugest goal for me ever anyway so....(and could encompass everything... from exercise to reading my scriptures or doing more with my kids)
#2 Be more Positive!!
#3 Do 52 posts in my blog... a weekly journal of our year!

Christmas 2010

Did Not disappoint!
Canyon got "Evil Dr. Pork Chop" which he has not stopped playing with...
Liv in her matching American girl doll Pj's She got Molly this is an old doll, she wanted to sleep Christmas Eve in her new pajamas with Lainey because she has green eyes and blond hair so of course they look just like twins right. She also go the cute little vanity set behind her and my dad made her her own vanity as well... I will have to take a picture he does a great job!
Hayden got his x-box... and the "whole family" (despite Hayden's wishes) got the kinnect.. that is a good time I tell ya...
Madz with her phone....and clothes she has dove head first into this whole teenager thing... I guess it was about time being that she is almost 16 but I kind of liked her holding back a bit!
Canyon got a "Toy Story" bike as well.
Doesn't Christmas morning just make you want to jump right out of your skin... or clothes or for joy I guess!! Later in the afternoon we went over to Tom's parents for a little while, then we met with my family, and my moms whole family for Christmas dinner... The kids had a good time with the Wii again... My mom was busy with her sisters and her dad.....
and Shawnatina had games for the rest of us to play... She takes her game playing very serious!
It was a minute to win it game and was quite funny watching everyone!


Then after my moms family left we exchanged gifts, we draw names in my family. The adults and the kids. We start with the kids and we watch each person open their gift.... Autumn made me the cutest quilt ever! She asked everyone to share memories and then she bought fabric to coincide with the memories... I cried of course reading what everyone wrote about me.... I love it!
Last but not least my parents finally open there gifts... Autumn made them this book this year ... My mom loves this country song called something like "Love like Crazy" or something with the word crazy in it, it starts out they are 17 and people say they are crazy... anyway my parents started out there life that young... so the book is pictures of them and us kids and their houses etc their life basically, with the words to the song as the story. It was so cute!!! I wish I had a copy for myself. It is a hard bound book and all. Autumn I hear by pronounce you queen gift giver for the Christmas 2010 year! She was super stressed out about the whole thing but I think it was all worth it. I absolutely loved ending the night opening these very thoughtful handmade gifts... it exemplifies the true spirit of Christmas!

Christmas Eve

It has always been a tradition in my family on Christmas Eve to read the story of the first Christmas from the Bible and get new pajamas..
A few years ago we started meeting for breakfast on Christmas Eve to do this so that it does not interfere with the "in-laws". This year we met at Josh and Natalie's. Here is my dad reading from the Bible, he also gave this whole talk about Joseph and Mary and he even incorporated the "Grinch" and how he realizes that Christmas doesn't come from a box or a store perhaps it means something a little bit more... It was the exact lesson I was looking for Thanks Dad!! It helped boost my Christmas spirit.....

After we read the story and talk about the real meaning of Christmas we all get pajamas... Here is my dad giving Emme a little toss in the air.... before she gets hers...
The kids always immediately change into their new pj's even if they have only been dressed for the day for about 30minutes! What fun little cousins!
Here we are leaving the shin dig all squished into the little car just like the good ole days when we were growing up.
Later that day I ran to target to grab one last thing and the cutest little boy was in front of me in line... No this is not your Christmas Shoes story, but it did help me get even more into the Christmas spirit... (I don't know why) anyway....he was about 10 years old, all by himself buying the most random gifts ever... a hanger with all the different levels, for pants, a package of sippy cups, and like a crossword puzzle or something and some Christmas cards, I loved watching him, the gifts chosen just for each member of the family... I smiled all the way home thinking of the mom opening that hanger(I still laugh).... I remember as kids we would all go to the store together on Christmas eve and shop for each other and our parents. I remember one year picking out this sewing organizer kit thing... we thought my mom was just going to love it and we were so excited to give it to her... anyway this little boy was nostalgic for me and just helped me get right into a regular old Christmassy mood!

Later that night we went to Tom's great aunt Roseann's I like going there, we can never stay very long because of Tom's cat allergies, but I really like Roseann and am thankful to her for putting it on each year. She has cancer this year yet she still made sure to get the family together. She is Tom's grandma's sister which Tom's grandma died in her early 30's leaving 4 small children.... I used to sit and listen to her tell me things about Tom's grandparents and I loved listening to it. I also love her because she was the first one and probably the only one still in Tom's family to admit that Maddie looks like me or any of my children for that matter.

We ended the night reading from the Bible again and watching the Nativity story movie with the kids.... It was a great day! I think Christmas Eve is my favorite day, I love the anticipation!

Homemade Christmas Continued...

Here are the after pictures... I made my girls Christmas dresses this year, by default, (I made a mistake on Maddie's, it was too big and she didn't like the style I also ended up with one... my dress is the above in blue, Maddie ended up with green (below) with Olivia's the silver... I thought they turned out alright....

I also used the same fabric to make my niece's skirts for Christmas...
I bought rolls of organza to make petticoat skirts for my other nieces, but they did not fair so well.... we will have to try again later....
The best home made gifts by far were Tom's his craftiness amazes me!! See the above block of wood.... he turned that into this beautiful Santa! He made one for his parents and one for mine as well. I think they turned out amazing!!
Sometimes home made gifts make Christmas that much more exciting... I love the work you put into it and the excitement in giving the gift when it is complete.... especially Tom's Santa's
