April 2011

Olivia won high point for her solo... Here she is with her giant trophy. She was so funny, when they were getting ready for awards, they were bringing out the big trophies and she asked the lady in charge..."is that for me" The lady just kind of shrugged her off... she then kept inching toward them when they were calling out the awards... we were laughing at her, then they called her name as the overall winner, which means she had the highest score for all dancers her age. She went crazy doing this victory dance and telling the lady I told you that was for me. She also got a perfect score at another competition this year.... She did great and was so fun to watch!
Here are some of the team girls after awards... This was a good competition for us with a few overall high points! I love all these girls!

March 2011

March 2011
Spring around our House (or March through May) is dance competition Season..... we headed to St. George, where the boys did some Geo caching... (I actually experienced my first Geo cache here as well)... Above is Canyon with the found box..

Maddie Went to Prom and Sweethearts etc....
For one dance we had a dance competition and Alec had to come and pick her up from it, it was so cute watching her get ready with 100 little sisters watching her in the locker room... and seeing her off... I wish I had a picture!

Liv a love ready for her solo.... She danced to Jungle drum and won queen almost every single time this year... She is such a crack up, I will have to post her dance!

My New years goal was to post 52 times last year a weekly journal and I have failed miserably!! Lets see what I can do today with one day left..

It is better to give then to receive.... but for day 8 I will list the best gifts I have gotten

1. Baby Sneezy when I was little oh man I can still picture her and smell her... I liked her so much I asked for a new one the next year.

2. Light Brite and Santa wrote my name on it so it was all a glowing when I came out Christmas morning... (I actually sneaked out that year and saw it in the middle of the night, I could not sleep for the rest of the night... that was the year I really saw Santa, but the summer before I had seen Smokey the Bear waving to me in the camper window so... I'm not sure what my mom was sprinkling on my dinner??.... and by the way I typed snuck and it is not a word so surprisingly I think sneaked is correct)

3.Rub-a-dub dolly Oh her cute curly hair and blue eyes, and the bath robe I wish I still had her!

4. Star, the barbie with her totally awesome roller skates and red silky jacket she was so cool and that curly hair oh she was it!!

5. Roller skates, I got them a few years in a row... My friend and I were like roller skating champions.... if you didn't know... in fact one year we thought of signing up for this roller derby thing but didn't because we would just win too easily. This was seriously our thoughts and an actual conversation. One year I got these so cute white with orange stripes skates... so cool! (3rd grade it wasn't last year if you were thinking that)

6.My record player, it was black and white and could probably sing along with Donna Summers it was played so much.... I'm talking the Wanderer record not Hot stuff.... a little Deonne Warwick is that her name and that's what friends are for... Willy Nelson on the road again and Still Rock and Roll to me came on the 7up record I got from my Dads work it was pretty awesome as well.. and good ole Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 was a nice added addition along with Blondie's Rapture feature in the year to come. I cried and cried when that record player broke... now I was stuck listening to just KRSP and requesting King Tut or Disco Duck....

7. My tape player, the little black and silver one you could record things on.... that was the greatest I loved to tape commercials of all things and listen to them over and over. (Julie or Journey through the glass the best Mormon commercial ever) We also played talk show/or radio host and did interviews on that thing... oh how I wish I had copies of those!

8. Whicker shelves those arched ones from like Jabberwockey or something like that, I asked for those for a few years before I got them, I don't think my parents thought I was serious... when I finally got them, we were walking out to open presents and I saw them through the window, I didn't want to ruin the surprise so I didn't say anything, and just opened my other presents... my parent then got all bent out of shape saying I was being a brat acting like is that all.... and they were like you have another present so rudish.... we still argue today over whether or not I had actually seen them or if I was pouting that I did not get them... I really and honestly saw them through the window! I just wanted to decorate my room is that weird for a kid... probably!

9. My ghetto blaster, It was awesome it had a dual tape deck and you could record from one to the other... My friend Michelle knew I was getting this and made me all these different tapes to listen to.... You know John Denver, Oingo Boingo, The Smiths.... The Cure... some awesome groups I must say....

10. Every Christmas with Tom is the best, he is such a good gift giver, he watches and knows the things you will want and I always feel bad that he does it so much better then I... that is why I have been so excited the 3 whopping times I have surprised him.... Some of the top gifts from him would be the very first Santa he gave me when we were dating/breaking up.... The Santa he gave me the first year we were married. Our trip to Nauvoo, My serger, American Girl dolls... He always gives nice gifts and makes them look all cute. Our first Christmas I cried because I thought I had a lot for him and he gave me 10x more I felt stupid!! I love how thoughtful of a giver he is though, I believe Canyon has inherited this trait oh how lucky his wife will be.

11. My lockers my dad made me... I was totally surprised and had wanted them for so long... they were made to fit perfectly in my garage and painted by my mom. Love them!!

12.My black bike I got in like 5th grade I wanted a ten speed so bad, but my dad has lost his job and things were beyond tight... some how they still pulled it together and got me a bike.... I found out later it took a lot of searching and a missionary who had bought a bike and found out he couldn't take it gave them a crazy good deal. I know that Christmas was so hard for my parents but they made it so great for all of us and we had no idea all the stresses they went through to get us stuff. I know it is because of my parents that I love Christmas so much!

So there you go you can laugh at my nerdyness.. it's ok... this has been the most fun post to do, the little walk down memory lane I wish I could go back to each of these Christmases just for a minute, or just to see the toys again and show my kids....

What are your favorite gifts??
